Tokyo Spring Music Festival 2023: Celebrating Spring with Classical Music

One of the most prominent classical music festivals in Japan, the Tokyo Spring Music Festival returns this spring for its 19th year. Held since 2005 to celebrate the arrival of spring in Tokyo, this year's festival will be held from March 18 to April 16, 2023 in Ueno Park amidst the blooming cherry blossoms.

It has become an integral part of the Japanese music scene. The Tokyo Spring Music Festival attracts a large number of music lovers from around the world who come to enjoy outstanding classical music performances. The festival is also a celebration of the vibrant spirit of Tokyo during the spring season with its many cultural and artistic events.

The festival features operas, orchestras, chamber music, and recitals by leading artists from Japan and abroad in a variety of venues around Ueno Park, including the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan.

Highlights include the Tokyo Spring Festival Wagner Series, featuring Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, as well as three operas presented in concert format, including Verdi's "The Masked Ball". The "Concert in the City of Cherry Blossoms," held mainly in Ueno Park, which will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2023, will also return in full force!

Free mini-concerts and a variety of events for children, including the Wagner for Kids program and the popular annual children's book and music concert and open rehearsal will be held.
