Renovated from Showa period Japanese houses originally built in 1938, Ueno Sakuragi Atari is a unique, complex facility overflowing with the warmth of classical Japanese-style architecture, where shoppers can feel the charm of the old as they enjoy shopping in modern stores. Visitors are sure to enjoy this quiet spot just off the main street.

Born from a project for regional revitalization, the buildings were originally Japanese houses that had been passed down generation to generation, and are now home to restaurants and shops offering various handmade culture, food culture and art culture.

- Yanaka Beer Hall welcomes lovers of craft beer and serves them with appetizers cooked in clay pots. Be sure to visit to imbibe on Yanaka Beer - only available here!

- Local bakery, VANER, produces fresh, handmade bread daily with stone-ground wheat imported from Norway, delivering authentic Norwegian sourdough breads.

- As the first specialty store of its kind in Japan, Oshi Olive boasts a wide range of salts and vinegars with tasting available for customers.

- Share Shop Katatema offers used books, Kaga Yubinuki thimbles, contemporary art, herbal tea and kintsugi, fashion, etc.

Located about 15 minutes on foot from Ueno Station, visitors to Ueno Sakuragi Atari can enjoy the scenery of Taito City as they stroll through Ueno Park along the way. Kaneiji Temple, a museum, and zoo are all nearby as well. This is a pleasant way to spend a morning or afternoon as you explore all the appeal that Taito City has to offer.
