This weekend the Kokon Kutsu Ichi shoe festival will be held at the the Asakusa Tamahime Inari Shrine in Taito-ku, Tokyo.

At this shoe festival you will find over 100,000 shoes, as well as bags and belts, on sale, from local shoe and leather makers, all at 60-80% discounts. Over 30 businesses will participate on the Asakusa Tamahime Inari Shrine grounds.
There are also other events like parade with a Shoe-Mikoshi, a portable shrine in the shape of a giant shoe, and the burning of used shoes to pray for the health of people's feet.
The event is lively every year.

Taito-ku, Tokyo, is said to produce the greatest leather in all of Japan.
It all started when shoe manufacturers and leather goods started holding shoe related festivals to thank the local Asakusa Tamahime Inari Shrine for their business prosperity. Discount sales on leather products are also held to give back to their repeat customers.
Asakusa Tamahime Inari Shrine holds two shoe-related festivals a year: the Konkon Shoe Market on the last Saturday and Sunday of April, and the Kutsu no Megumi (the "Blessings of shoes") Festival Market on the last Saturday and Sunday of November.

The event will be held at the Asakusa Tamahime Inari Shrine, an 11 minute walk from the Minami Senju Station.
This year it will be held on Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th of April. We hope to see you there.
