Special performance of festive events from Asakusa

Asakusa is home to Tokyo oldest temple. It is a major tourist destination and at the center of many festive events throughout the year. This program presents performances that can usually only be seen during festivals or Buddhist rituals. This special performance at the National Theatre is a rare opportunity to see traditional culture and performances from both Asakusa Shrine and Senso-ji Temple.

Sensōji Shōmyō (Japanese Buddhist chant)

- Hokke Hakkō Gonoza / Wasan

Interested in actual festivals in Asakusa? On March 18, you can see the Kinryū no Mai dance performed at Senso-ji Temple. Some of the other performances from this program can be seen during the Sanja Matsuri taking place May 17-19, 2019.
