The Ueno area is one of the best places in Tokyo to experience art and culture. Several of Japan´s best museums are located within the park that is a famous spot for viewing the cherry blossoms in the spring. The Ueno Welcome Passport is a special ticket that allows you to visit these exhibitions and galleries:
Tokyo National Museum, Tokyo Museum of Western Art, Ueno Zoological Gardens, Kyu-Iwasaki-tei Gardens, Shitamachi Museum, Asakura Museum of Sculpture, Ueno Toshogu Shrine, as well as selected exhibitions at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, The Ueno Royal Museum, Calligraphy Museum, and The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts.
All of these facilities are located in or near Ueno Park. Also in the area are Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo Metropolitan Festival Fall), the International Library of Children´s Literature and the National Archives of Modern Architecture. Access is for one admission per place. The regular Ueno Welcome Passport for 2,000 yen is for access to the permanent exhibitions. The 3,000 yen Ueno Welcome Passport is for access to the permanent exhibitions and access to one special exhibition of your choice.
