Did you know that there is a shop with over 100 years of history selling traditional Japanese snacks in Asakusa that offers rice crackers that are certified halal? It is one of the places introduced on “Muslim Welcome Taito Tokyo”.
This new Facebook page shares information about events, sightseeing, shopping, and food in English. Follow @muslim.welcome.taito.tokyo for local tips and travel recommendations.
These are some of the tasty recommendations posted last month: halal sushi in Asakusa, halal-certified wagyu beef yakiniku in Shinokachimachi, and halal ramen noodles and karaage chicken in Okachimachi.
Combine a trip to a restaurant with some sightseeing around Asakusa, Kappabashi, Ueno, or Yanaka. The Yanaka neighborhood for example is best explored on foot. Relax in the retro atmosphere, find cute souvenirs, and go for a photo walk in this old area of Tokyo.
More places that offer halal food in Tokyo’s old shitamachi city can be found on the Taito Map covering the Asakusa, Ueno, and Yanaka areas available for download here http://www.halalmedia.jp/tourist-guide/.
