The Tori-no-Ichi Fair takes place every November on the Days of the Rooster at Otori Shrine, which is also called Otori-sama. “Kumade” rakes are called “kakkome”. They are lucky charms that are supposed to rake in happiness and good fortune, riches, and prosperity for businesses. The precincts turn into a crowded market lined with stalls selling kumade rakes.
