At the Main Hall of Senso-ji Temple, a memorial service is held for chrysanthemums. Many parishioners come to offer new chrysanthemums that replace the old chrysanthemums after incantation and prayer. The Golden Dragon Dance is performed on the temple grounds. Senso-ji Temple’s honorific name is Kinryuzan, Mountain of the Golden Dragon. Its origin is associated with a legend: for the manifestation of Bodhisattva Kannon the Golden Dragon descended from the heavens and 1000 pin trees appeared overnight.
