“Tosenkyo” is a game from the Edo period (1603-1868). Players compete by throwing a fan at a target set on top of a box. The target has the shape of a gingko tree leaf and is called “chou” (butterfly). Points are given based on the position of the fan, the target, and the box after the player hits the target. An admission fee is charged.
